With huge investment from Director Richard Bushnell, not only have they acquired the property on the High Street showing their commitment to remaining within the town, they are delighted to be rebranding the business throughout whilst ensuring they continue to provide the high level of customer service that they always have done to their clients. The Chequers team are on hand to offer every level of support throughout the sales process and are one of the few agents in the area that continue to offer their sales progression in house meaning you have the same contact from start to finish. Chequers have built great relationships with local Solicitors and trades alike meaning that they can assist you with any query no matter how big or small.

Twinned with their rebranding, Chequers are delighted to be growing even further with the addition of Lettings to their business structure. The experienced team will now not only be able to assist with property sales, they will be on hand to guide Landlords and Tenants through their smooth process carefully created by Lettings Manager Hannah Atkinson who joined the team in November 2024. Hannah has been in the industry for over ten years and so has been able to use her experience and knowledge to develop four separate Letting packages to offer to Landlords in readiness for their launch of this side of the business in March.

Chequers were awarded the Gold Winner of Estate Agents in Barnstaple British Property Awards 2024 which reflects their strong position within the sector – which has plenty of competition! Onlookers will have noticed that there has been a slight shift in the types of properties which Chequers typically sell and whilst they still continue to be a market leader in the first time buyer and investment homes sales – which will go hand in hand with their new Lettings venture – they have now moved into sales of the higher market properties also, and the team are looking forward to another year of growth. Chequers are really proud of the achievements from 2024 and cannot wait to launch the rebrand of the business including their newly renovated office in the heart of the town which will only help them go from strength to strength in 2025.

Hannah prides herself on being organised, knowledgeable and providing the highest level of customer service to her clients. She enjoys nothing more than taking Landlords and Tenants through the process and building relationships along the way. When not at work, she spends the rest of her time chasing her little boy around and spending quality time with her husband and family – not to forget her beloved bulldog, Roney!

Lisa has joined Chequers as an experienced administrator and has a passion for all things property!

Lisa has a young family and has lived in North Devon for the past 22 years. She enjoys spending time with her family and walking the dog on the beach with any spare time!

The event will gather women and girls to walk a choice of routes between Barnstaple, Bideford and Instow to raise money for North Devon Hospice.

Claire, Teresa and Kate, cant wait to get their groove on in a funky outfit and dance the night away, all while helping to support our amazing hospice.

Chequers Estate Agents are delighted to announce that Toby Dowding has joined their team!

Toby has a wealth of estate agency experience and local knowledge spanning over 20 years, helping clients buy and sell a variety of properties, ranging from one bed apartments to multi-million-pound dream homes!

Toby’s attraction to joining Chequers Estate Agents, was the friendly, personal, and professional approach to helping clients, from the initial instruction right through to completion day!

Not only this, but also is excited about the developments within the business and long term plans ahead. He is confident it will become the leading estate agent within the local area, helping the people of North Devon with all their property matters, whatever their requirements and stages of their property journey and life.

Toby lives locally where his two children were raised and enjoys everything North Devon has to offer. This includes the gorgeous rolling countryside and pretty villages, stunning coastlines and fabulous beaches, where you will often see him walking his dog called Ash!

He is not a 9-5 estate agent, so you will often find him working out of ‘normal’ working hours, to help clients and to fit in with their lifestyles.
