Richard has lived in beautiful North Devon for most of his life, having built a successful insurance brokerage and financial services business, Richard started developing property and buying into Chequers was the natural progression, having bought and sold many times over the years, he understands the stresses and strain of the house sale process and aims through Chequers to make the journey from valuation to completion as simple as possible. Out of work Richard is currently renovating a thatched farmhouse and has two teenage boys and enjoys cycling and rugby.
I joined Chequers in June 2021 after working for six years at an alternative agent in Barnstaple. I am very willing to learn new skills in order to continue to progress. I was delighted to join Chequers and help grow people’s futures. I am excited about the developments within the business and long term exciting plans ahead and look forward to helping the people of North Devon with all their property matters, and stages of their property journey and life.
I am a determined and motivated member of the team here in Barnstaple, looking to achieve the best in everything that I do as well as approaching tasks with a 100% work ethic.
Having lived in the area all of my life I have a wealth of knowledge of the County. I live on my parent’s dairy and sheep farm in the Devon rolling countryside and have had my own flock of rare breed sheep for many years. In my spare time, I am a very active member of the National Federation of Young Farmers.
After completing an apprenticeship in a local estate agents and receiving her Btec in customer service, Teresa joined Chequers Estate Agents in 2012 as office administrator and soon become a valued member of the team. Now a hard working mum of three, Teresa thrives in being busy and is always happy to help with day to day enquiries and enjoys the process of putting properties onto the market and meeting new buyers.
Toby has a wealth of estate agency experience and local knowledge spanning over 20 years, helping clients buy and sell a variety of properties, ranging from one bed apartments to multi-million-pound dream homes!
Toby’s attraction to joining Chequers Estate Agents, was the friendly, personal, and professional approach to helping clients, from the initial instruction right through to completion day!
Not only this, but also is excited about the developments within the business and long term plans ahead. He is confident it will become the leading estate agent within the local area.
Toby lives locally where his two children were raised and enjoys everything North Devon has to offer. This includes the gorgeous rolling countryside and pretty villages, stunning coastlines and fabulous beaches, where you will often see him walking his dog called Ash!
I joined the Chequers team in 2024 as an experienced Lettings Manager after having spent the previous 10 years with another local agent. Since joining, I have enjoyed developing, launching and managing what is now growing to be a very successful Lettings department. I pride myself on being organised, knowledgeable and providing the highest level of customer service to my clients.
When not at work, I spend the rest of my time chasing after my very energetic little boy and enjoying quality time with friends and family – not forgetting to mention my beloved bulldog, Roney!

Outside of work, I’m a proud mum of two young children, who are my greatest achievement and absolute joy. Our family wouldn’t be complete without our gentle greyhound, Mollie, who we love taking on walks and adventures. I also enjoy spending quality time with my partner and making the most of family life.

Claire was an absolute pleasure to do business with. She is such a lovely, polite young lady who is very efficient at her job.
